Getting ready for the weight loss project over here. Without a veterinary scale, you can take your pet’s weight. You weigh yourself and then weigh yourself holding your pet close to your body, then subtract the smaller from the larger. It’s a great ballpark. However, with a smaller animal it is best to measure out the ounces.

As humans we rarely pay attention to the fractions of the pound that we weight in with. I know I focus on half pounds myself.

I ordered a 30 pound veterinary scale through Amazon.com.

It’s going to help me monitor Tommy’s weight more closely and calculate how much food he should be receiving. I also have a 5 lb food scale I use for weighing the birds, guinea pigs etc., so I won’t be measuring Tommy and Stewart’s food in cups.
